Looking for a competent painter?
We are about to move back into our house after a major extension, and the whole place is a shell of bare plaster and new timber. I’m feeling completely overwhelmed by the scale of the decorating job—there are three floors, five bedrooms, and all the hallways to deal with. I’m tempted to just buy a sprayer and try to blast it all white myself, but I’m worried about the mess and the quality of the finish on the woodwork. How do people manage a full-house project without losing their minds or spending six months living in a construction zone?

Doing a whole house yourself is a monumental task that usually takes ten times longer than you think it will, especially when you factor in all the skirting, doors, and radiators. When we finished our loft conversion, we handed the keys to a team of decorators in London who managed the entire schedule from top to bottom. They coordinated the priming of the new plaster and the satinwood finish on the joinery, getting the whole place done in under two weeks. The quality was so much better than anything we could have achieved, and it allowed us to move in on time.
